We offer a full range of dog vaccinations at our Cheltenham Vet Clinic. This includes common vaccines that protect against diseases such as: Parvovirus, Parainfluenza, Leptospirosis, Distemper, Infectious Hepatitis. We also offer the kennel cough vaccination (known as Bordatella).

We regularly vaccinate dogs against Rabies in order for them to qualify for the pet passport scheme and travel within Europe.

With breeders in mind, we also offer the ‘fading puppy’ or herpes vaccine that is given in two doses during pregnancy.

We do not believe in the over-vaccination of dogs and provide just enough vaccine in order to protect dogs from the devastating consequences of infectious diseases. Many Vets chose to vaccinate dogs against every condition every year. However studies have shown that this is unnecessary for many diseases following the primary course of vaccinations, given as a puppy. Certain vaccinations such as leptospirosis and parainfluenza do however need to be provided on an annual basis in order to provide protective immunity.

If you are interested in discussing dog vaccinations then call us on 01242 220158 or register online and we’d be delighted to meet you and your pet.

Cat Vaccinations in Cheltenham

There are several conditions that can be prevented in cats by following a vaccination program. Again, we do not vaccinate unnecessarily but simply provide sufficient protection to allow cats to live long and happy lives.

We recommend that all cats are vaccinated against cat flu (herpes and calicivirus) and enteritis (also known as panleukopaenia). If your cat is to spend any time outside socialising, then we recommend also vaccinating against feline leukaemia virus (FeLV) and chlamydia.

Cats can also be vaccinated against Rabies for the pet travel scheme to allow them to receive a pet passport.

Why not call in and register to arrange vaccinations for your feline friend.

Rabbit Vaccinations in Cheltenham

We are delighted to be able to offer the new, combined Myxomatosis and Viral Haemorrhagic Disease (VHD) vaccination. The new vaccination lasts for a full year, unlike the 6 months provided by previous vaccines and avoids the requirement to inject part of the vaccine intradermally – something that many bunnies object to!

Myxomatosis is unfortunately on the increase in Cheltenham and Gloucestershire and we do recommend that all rabbits are protected against this devastating disease.

Ferret Vaccinations in Cheltenham

We routinely vaccinate Ferrets against distemper.

Blood Testing to Assess Immune Status Prior to Vaccination

Concerned about over-vaccination or want to know for sure if your pet is protected? We have the facility to collect blood samples from your pet to see whether there is an adequate antibody level against the infectious disease in question. This allows a more targeted approach to vaccination.
